2020 was the worst year for the education system worldwide. UK universities are one of those who suffered most. After looking at all the factors, UK universities have finally decided to provide the visa deadline extension to help the Indian students who are willing to study in UK universities in 2021 Semester. Universities have taken different steps to ensure a smooth semester in September 2021. Indian students enroll at UK universities in large numbers and the UK universities understand the importance of this group of students. Indian students belong to one of the largest groups of students over the past year. The Indian students are going to benefit from the extension of the entry deadline to qualify for the PSW. The Graduate route visa which is commonly referred as the PSW visa will make the Indian overseas students eligible for overseas work.

The deadline extension was proposed and launched by the UK Home Secretary Priti Patel last year. The extension is given to the students till September 27, 2021. The National Indian Students and Alumni Union ( NISAU) is one of the bodies that is fighting for this extension since India was in the red list. Indian students in the UK faced many difficulties as the regulation forced them to be in a 10 day compulsory hotel quarantine after they arrived in the UK. A 10 day hotel quarantine may have cost many students approximately GBP 1,1750.

NISAU has been requesting the Home Office to consider an extension of the June 21, 2021, entry deadline for Indian students to be in the UK as a condition of eligibility for the Graduate route”.

According to the latest news there is a rise in the number who were granted a student visa in the UK. The number of students reached 6000 this year. It shows the enthusiasm of the Indian students who were willing to take courses in the UK.

The rules and regulations are changing as per the situation of pandemic in India and in the UK.
